The Problem

Invariably, during the course of a normal working day, every Chubb service engineer will come across at least one fire door held open with one of the following:

  • a door wedge

  • a waste paper bin

  • an extinguisher

Aside from the damage the door could do to an extinguisher, as well as the hazards associated with moving the extinguisher away from its recognised fire point, restraining fire doors in any of the above three ways will mean that in the event of a fire, that fire cannot be compartmentalised and contained, allowing fire to spread freely and rapidly.

The Solution - Chubb Dorgard - fire door retainer

Like a door wedge, an extinguisher or bin, Chubb Dorgard will retain the door open to allow ease of access around the workplace.

However unlike these, should the fire alarm sound, Chubb Dorgard will automatically release the door into the shut position to help contain the fire in a given section of the building.

Safe & Compliant

Chubb Dorgard is:

  • manufactured and tested in accordance with British Standard BS EN 1155

  • accepted by Fire Authorities and Chief Fire Officers Association (CFOA)

  • endorsed by the National Care Homes Association

  • designed in line with the Disability Discrimination Act Part III by improving access for wheelchair users

As such, Chubb Dorgard can form an integral part of complying with your building’s Fire Risk Assessment

Saves time and limits disruption

Unlike expensive traditional fire door holders, Chubb Dorgard is completely wire-free. As such, installing Chubb Dorgard could save your business up to £500 per fire door. Chubb Dorgard is easy to install so therefore minimises disruption to your working day.
